Storytelling

“Plankton is trying to steal a Krabby Patty (yes, again…), and it’s up to the citizens of Bikini Bottom—nay, the patrons of the Krusty Krab!—to stop him.”

The chosen box top direction utilizes elements of composition to communicate the story behind the game:

Contrast: Strong darks from the night sky and intense lights from the mushroom cloud emphasize the game title
Focus: Plankton’s large scale, in comparison to other characters, make him the obvious focal point
Proportion: Perspective provides a hierarchy of elements and characters within the composition
Movement: Dynamic typography and leading lines guide the viewers eye from the focal point backwards towards the Krusty Krab, and around the composition
Unity: Game title and tagline are incorporated into the environment

Iconography

Rising players’ teams are identified through iconography.
Each Plankton Rising team icon needed to do the following:

Represent one of the four qualities needed to keep the Krusty Krab running smoothly: Friendship, Effort, Teamwork, and Fun
Be different in both color and shape
Translate well when simplified for in-text use and application on Friend Dice
Be easily recognizable at various scales across multiple components
Match overall look and feel of the rest of the game

Plankton’s Molecular Analyzer

“…foil Plankton’s plan before he can steal all the ingredients needed to make a Krabby Patty and analyze them in his lab!”

Plankton Cards and Krabby Patty Ingredient Tiles track Plankton’s progress as he tries to steal pieces of the Krabby Patty to analyze in his lab. Plankton Cards indicate which ingredients gain a Theft Token. Once all Theft spaces on an ingredient are full, the tile is flipped over to show that Plankton has stolen that ingredient and analyzed it in his computer.
